 The News is Back

We heard you. Over the past year Co-Owners have expressed the need for more frequent communication in a format covering the issues that are important to Camelback Co-Owners. My name is Betsy Heath and following my recent election to the Board of Directors, I was asked to Chair the Communications Committee. The plan is to send you this newsletter approximately every 60 days with an additional issue right after the October Annual Meeting.

The "News" will highlight the activities of the Council of Co-Owners, Board of Directors and its committees. We invite the General Partner to contribute information about Partnership matters and we plan to report on things happening at the Inn, units listed for resale, reciprocal properties and the Marriott Rewards Program.

The Communications Committee updates the Co-Owners website on a continuing basis and we invite you to check the site regularly. If you need help with access to your account or have suggestions for items you would like to see in this newsletter, please contact me at bheatheditor@gmail.com.

46th Annual Meeting of the Council of Co-Owners

At the Meeting held on Saturday, October 27, 2018, Co-Owners elected John Simon and Betsy Heath to serve as Directors for four year terms, approved the Co-Owner's Budget, and Minutes for the previous annual co-owners meeting. Reports were presented by Camelback Inn General Manager Jim Rose, Council President Randy Pugh, various committee chairs, and the General Partner.

Over the course of the weekend, the Board of Directors held two meetings and Co-Owners participated in the Annual Golf Tournament, a lake cruise, and various social activities.

To read the draft of the Official Minutes go to the Co-Owners website, Meetings and Events Page - Council of Co-Owners (please keep in mind that these are draft minutes and not approved; they will be submitted for approval at the 2019 annual meeting). Also posted on the website is the recent letter to Co-Owners from Board President Randy Pugh, and the report of the General Partner.

Future Annual meetings are scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 and Saturday, October 17, 2020.

 Reciprocal Exchange Program

All Limited Partners have the option of exchanging their vacation time for stays at full service Marriott, JW Marriott, Renaissance, or Ritz-Carlton branded hotels worldwide. The Co-Owners website Reciprocal Properties page is provided as a resource to help you make the most of your Camelback vacation days. Please be aware that properties may change, so it's always a good idea to verify eligibility of the property before assuming reimbursement. On the page you will find:

   •  CBI rates used to calculate the number of days charged
   •  List of participating properties
   •  Instructions for obtaining your reimbursement check

It is important that you submit all 2018 folios for reimbursement by January 31, 2019. Information about vacation usage is needed for year-end calculations and to enable timely distribution of form K-1. For details about time charged to your units or other reciprocal information, contact camelbackinvestment@gemisys.com.

Keep in mind that there are now almost 30 brands under the Marriott umbrella and that currently only Marriott, JW Marriott, Renaissance, and Ritz-Carlton properties are eligible for the reciprocal exchange. Operation of the program, including potential inclusion of new brands, is under the direction of the General Partner. For further information about possible program changes, contact camelbackgp@chmwarnick.com.

 Marriott Rewards Program

In August 2018, Marriott combined the Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, and Starwood programs. Starting February 13, 2019, the name of Marriott's new unified loyalty name will be Marriott Bonvoy. Significant changes include:

   •  Ability to earn and redeem points at 29 Marriott brands
   •  New Award Levels - some properties now require more points, some fewer points, check the Marriott website for details
   •  Platinum Premier Elites now receive a 75% bonus on points earned

We recommend that Co-Owners review their accounts to ensure that point balances are accurate and that recent stays have been properly credited. To learn more about the new program, go to https://meetmarriottbonvoy.marriott.com

 Platinum Premier Elite Status

Changes to the Marriott Rewards Program (soon to be known as Marriott Bonvoy) included revision of Elite status levels.

Camelback Co-Owners have Elite status that otherwise would require 75 or more personal room-night stays per year. This elite level, formerly Platinum Elite, will be designated Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite. Most of the benefits remain the same with the addition of guaranteed late check-out privileges and the increase to 75% elite bonus points for points earned. We suggest that you check the Marriott website to confirm your Titanium Elite Status.

Please do not confuse changes in Elite Status with changes to Marriott branded credit cards. Several credit cards that offer Marriott Rewards bonus points in addition to the points earned by staying at Marriott properties are currently offered by credit card issuers. Details of these offers and points rewarded are on the Marriott website.

Jim Rose Plans Retirement in 2019

After 50 years with Marriott, Camelback General Manager Jim Rose will retire this year. The Marriott announcement notes that "Jim has enjoyed a rewarding career with Marriott International spanning six properties and five decades. After joining Marriott in 1968 as a Night Auditor, Jim progressed through a succession of operations and sales positions that included Front Desk Manager, Catering Manager, Director of Group Sales, Director of Sales and Marketing, and Resident Manager. Many of you in the market will remember when Jim took on his first General Manager role at Mountain Shadows Resort, after which he was appointed to the role of GM at the JW Marriott Las Vegas. In 2010, Jim returned to Arizona and was promoted to General Manager of the iconic JW Marriott Camelback Inn. During Jim's tenure, his accomplishments and commitment to Marriott have been recognized with nearly every award possible involving Leadership Excellence, modeling and promoting our culture, and, innovating the way we sell to and serve guests. While at Camelback Inn, the hotel was awarded Hotel of the Year, along with several customer service leadership awards."

All of us in the Camelback family wish Jim and Diane the very best in the years to come.

Happy New Year!
