Board of Directors Meeting April 28, 2019

The Board of Directors met at Camelback Inn on Sunday, April 28, 2019 in both General and Executive Sessions. At the General Session, the Board approved final committee assignments, authorized newsletter distributions, and discussed plans for social events connected with the October Annual Meeting.

Appointed to the Nominating Committee are John Heller, Chair; John Umbeck, and Paul Dembow. The Nominating Committee is required to recommend to the Annual Meeting one candidate for each of the open positions on the Board of Directors. There are two positions to be filled in October. The seats are currently held by Jack Florio who is completing his second term and cannot be re-nominated, and Gary Torrence who is completing his first term but is not seeking re-election. The Nominating Committee operates independently from the Board of Directors and has requested applications from Co-Owners wishing to be considered for the open positions.

Appointed to the Property Planning Committee are Jack Florio, Chair; Mark Barbano, and Jonathan Brinlee. The committee's responsibilities are defined in the enabling resolution which is posted on the Co-Owners website. Duties include conducting at least two property inspections each year and working with Marriott and the General Partner to follow a process regarding the property's short- and long-term capital plans.

Appointed to the Audit Review Committee are Charles Clist, Chair; and Gary Torrence. The committee's duties as defined in the enabling resolution are posted on the website. Updates and minutes of committee activity will be posted on the appropriate committee page of the website when received.

The Board authorized the Communications Committee to publish six newsletters annually and to use the resources of our web provider, Q9, for delivery to Co-Owners. The Board also received an update from the Events Committee about activities to be held in connection with the October Annual Meeting.

Official minutes from the April 28 board meeting will be presented at the June board meeting and posted to the Co-Owner website upon approval. Approved minutes of prior board meetings are available on the website.

Camelback Co-Owners Receive Titanium Elite Status

In a mailing from Marriott on March 22, 2019, we were informed that "based on the long-term and special relationship Marriott has with Camelback Inn" Co-Owners will receive Titanium Elite Status. This announcement is in keeping with Marriott's long standing recognition of Camelback Co-Owners by awarding us with top-tier status, a practice that began decades ago, even prior to the establishment of a points-based loyalty program.

 CBI Rates Updated through September

Rates for Standard and Sundeck Rooms through September 30 are now posted on the Co-Owner's Website. These are the rates used to calculate the number of days charged to your unit when you vacation at a reciprocal property. The rates can be found on the Reciprocal Properties Page where you will also find details about getting your reimbursement check and how to obtain a report of time charged to your unit.

 Reciprocal Exchange Reminders

Under the Reciprocal Exchange Program, you can use vacation time for stays at any full service Marriott, JW Marriott, Renaissance, or Ritz-Carlton. It's always a good idea to re-check the website prior to your visit to ensure that your hotel has not changed its brand affiliation. By doing this, you may also find that a lower rate for the same room may have become available. Remember to submit your folio promptly upon completion of your stay.

 New Hotel Openings

Marriott has added eight hotels to the reciprocal program this year including a Renaissance Resort in Cancun, Mexico; a Marriott Golf Resort in Denia, Spain; the JW Marriott Marquis City Center Doha, Qatar; and the Marriott Ocean Park in Hong Kong.

This summer Marriott plans to open two hotels in the U.S.: a Renaissance located in the Chelsea section of New York City and Marriott's first full service property in Odessa, Texas. Over the summer Marriott plans twelve international openings featuring properties in Canada, Columbia, Morocco, Russia, Malta, Nepal, China, and a JW Resort in the Indian Ocean nation of Maldives. More information is available at Marriott.com.
Have a great summer!
